Quad Helix
- Appliance Components
Description
The Quad Helix appliance can be created as either a fixed or a removable device utilizing .036 wire. It is employed to broaden the arch form, utilizing helices that are bent at the four corners of the appliance and lingual wires that extend anteriorly. We create all of our Quad appliances by bending straight wire, which enables us to contour the vault to meet specific requirements while preserving the wire’s integrity as compared to pre-bent wire. This appliance is indicated for all crossbites requiring expansion, mild expansion in mixed dentition cases, Class III cases necessitating expansion, Class II cases, and cleft palate patients. The design can also include a tongue crib and facemask hooks if desired.
